“A Piece of Our Heart” is a local 501(c)(3) public charity committed to aiding families facing the loss of children. Our mission encompasses several key initiatives: raising funds for pediatric funerals, providing essential sympathy services, educating the community on prevention and awareness, and promoting conferences, seminars, and events to foster support and understanding.
Founded by Michaelynn Piner, “A Piece of Our Heart” was inspired by her personal experience with the tragic loss of a family member due to sudden death. Witnessing the profound struggles of grieving family members—including emotional anguish and financial burdens—she recognized a need for support in similar situations.
Our organization provides financial assistance for funeral expenses and offers emotional support and counseling to help families cope with their loss. More than just a nonprofit, we consider ourselves a supportive family, dedicated to spreading love and compassion worldwide.

Purpose
To pay for pediatric funerals of children who die suddenly (gun violence, drowning, suicide, car accident, SIDs, etc.) Provide education and create a network for parents (example counseling and joining them with other parents who loss children from the same or similar sudden death).
